Graduates of the Department are expected to be equipped with all the necessary knowledge and skills to work as:
✓ Professional accountants, tax consultants, economists, investment advisors, business consultants, public administration executives, or professionals in the private and broader financial sector.
✓ Statutory auditors, accountants, internal auditors, professionals in multinational auditing firms, as well as executives in companies operating in other sectors.
✓ Members of Teaching and Research Staff (TRS) in higher education institutions in Greece and abroad, provided that they acquire the additional qualifications required by the relevant legislation.
✓ Professionals in educational and research centers, promoting research and teaching in the fields of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance.
Graduates of the Department of Accounting and Finance are eligible to practice the profession of economist, a profession that is legally regulated in Greece. The statutory regulation of the economist profession aims to safeguard the broader interests of the national economy (e.g., combating tax evasion, ensuring the reliability of financial statements, etc.) by ensuring the reliable and scientifically grounded provision of economic, accounting, and organizational advice and services to businesses and organizations in both the private and public sectors.
Graduates of the Department of Accounting and Finance are also eligible to practice as accountants-tax consultants, a profession which, like that of economist, is legally regulated. Article 1 of Law 2515/1997 (Government Gazette 154/A/25.07.1997) and Presidential Decree 340/1998 (Government Gazette 228/A/06.10.1998), as currently in force, regulate the profession of accountant-tax consultant, given the particular importance of maintaining tax accounting records in the context of the modernization of tax legislation.
