  • Strategy of the Undergraduate Study Programme

  • Vision

The Department’s Undergraduate Study Programme aims to:

Develop the Department according to the standards of the best higher education institutions in developed European countries, achieving the highest overall performance indicators among all higher education institutions in Greece.

According to the National Qualifications Framework, studies in the Department of Accounting and Finance lead to the award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, Level 6.

  • Targets

  • The continuous renewal of the study programme through the introduction of innovative subject areas and the enrichment of existing courses with new findings and conclusions derived from the latest fundamental and applied research at the international level.
  • Providing students with a solid education in the organization and management of businesses and organizations, enabling them to reach a level at which they can understand, assimilate, and promote modern scientific and technological methods and techniques in all types of private- and public-sector organizations, at both operational and strategic levels.
  • The continuous professional development of the Department’s graduates, as well as other interested individuals, in contemporary technological advancements through seminars and lifelong learning and distance-learning programmes.
  • The development of a research strategy within the fields and subject areas required by the wider region and in response to the changing conditions of the external environment of the Department and DUTH.
  • Strengthening the Department’s international and outward-looking orientation by enhancing inter-institutional, European, and international relations for educational purposes (within the framework of ERASMUS+, through student and staff exchanges, cooperation in joint postgraduate programmes, etc.), as well as for research purposes.
  • Implementing quality assurance procedures for education in the Department’s postgraduate study programmes and incorporating them, along with the undergraduate study programme, into the Department’s quality assurance and evaluation processes conducted by the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA).

The Department is committed to safeguarding its academic identity and values, developing rules of professional ethics and ethical practice, promoting respect and the values of equality, preventing all forms of discrimination, encouraging openness in its infrastructure and activities, fostering a culture of collaboration and development, ensuring transparency in collective decision-making, and ensuring that all its teaching, research, administrative, and social activities are aligned with the strategies and policies of the institution. The effective organization of its services, the efficient management of the necessary resources, and, within its area of responsibility, the development and maintenance of its infrastructure are among the Department’s obligations.

In line with the Department’s vision, its strategy is based on the following areas:

  • Effective Administrative Operation (Digitalization of services, Continuous evaluation of teaching activities, Staffing with permanent personnel)
    Modern Theoretical and Technological Education of Students (Updating the credit system and Diploma Supplement, Involvement of distinguished graduates in the revision of the Undergraduate Study Programme, Promotion of Internship/Practical Training)
  • Excellence in Education and Research (Enhancing Department funding through research programmes supported by public and private organizations, Improving research performance, Promoting and recognizing excellence and innovation by encouraging, supporting, and rewarding achievements)
    Outreach and Internationalization (Internationalization of educational activities, Strengthening research collaborations at national and international levels, Networking and dissemination activities)
  • Contribution to the Local Community and Regional Development (Active transfer of knowledge and technology to productive and social stakeholders, Strengthening the Department’s social role, Fostering a two-way culture of contribution and engagement between the academic community and students/graduates)
