Academic Calendar
The academic year begins on 1 September and ends on 31 August of the following year. The educational work of each academic year is structured into two teaching periods, namely the academic semesters (winter and spring), during which the compulsory and elective educational activities of the study programmes are distributed. Each academic semester comprises the teaching period (teaching semester) and the examination period.
Each teaching semester includes at least thirteen (13) full weeks of teaching, in accordance with the academic calendar specifying the start and end dates of the semesters, which is established by decision of the Senate each March and specifies:
a) the start and end dates of classes for the winter and spring semesters;
b) the start and end dates of the examination periods for the winter and spring semesters, as well as the resit examination period in September;
c) the Christmas and Easter holiday periods; and
d) all other public holidays (national holidays, local holidays, etc.).
By decision of the Senate, following a reasoned recommendation from the Department Assembly, the academic calendar may be amended if educational activities could not be conducted due to force majeure.
The academic calendar for the current academic year can be found in the attached file.
